Sweet Summertime: Tailgate & Shenanigans!

How’s everyone feeling on this lovely Sunday morning?  I’m a little slow-moving right now.  Based on how I found my apartment when we woke up (not too long ago, might I add), we had a fun night!

I mentioned in my post from yesterday that I’d be having a long, fun-filled day, and that I did!  Around 1:00, we packed up some coolers filled with everything we needed for a successful TAILGATE!

Anyone a fan of these two guys??

Even though we are all born and raised in New Jersey, my family and I are all huge country fans, so when we heard that Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw were coming to the Meadowlands during their concert tour, we jumped at the chance to get tickets.

Our concert tailgate involved my aunts, uncles, a few cousins, my brother, and my sister-in-law.  We had SUCH a blast!  Tailgating is one of my all-time favorite things, especially when it involves my amazing family!

For our tailgating spread, we had pretzels, crackers, pistachios, subs, chips & dip, brownies and cookies.  We clearly weren’t going to let ourselves go hungry! ;)

As far as our drinks were concerned, we mostly stuck to beer except for a little concoction that my handsome husband has been brewing up over the past week.  Anyone ever heard of a Stoli Doli?  It is basically just pineapple soaked in vodka.  Delicious?  Yes.  Deadly?  Yes.  I stuck to just one sip of it!

Shenanigans occurred as we played flip cup, beer pong, and worked on our country dancing…

Around 6:00, we headed into the concert.  Although our seats couldn’t have been any further from the stage, we had such a blast dancing and singing along to all our favorite songs!

The concert ended around 11, and we made our way home.  My brother and Bobby’s sister came back to our apartment where we proceeded to order pizza, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers.

I woke up this morning to find these delicious looking leftovers on the counter….

Clearly dancing all night works up an appetite! ;)

I’m a little unhappy with the piece and a half of pizza (ok, and mozzarella stick) that I scarfed down last night, along with the handfuls of honey wheat pretzels that I couldn’t get enough of during our tailgate… but I’m trying not to let that “guilt” feeling take anything away from the amazing time we had yesterday!  Better choices today, right? :)

How did you spend your Saturday night?

Are you a fan of country music?  Who is your favorite singer?

Do you get that “guilty” feeling after a night of indulging?  How do you deal with it?

  1. I think I feel “guilty” not so much because of the calories, but because I always feel so bloated after eating so many junky foods. So after just a couple days of eating normally again, I almost always feel back to my typical self! :)

Looks like such a fun time! You’re too cute with your cowboy hat!

  2. What fun!!! …..Being that I am a country girl (living in an itty bitty town) that can drive tractors and work cattle, I am a fan of country music. That concert would have been AWESOME- such a good time!
I know the ‘guilt’ thing can get pretty rough at times but I just try to remember that most times I feel guilty about are ‘once in a long while’ kind of situations. I do my best to let it go and just pick up eating the way I normally do. ………All those pictures are ADORABLE! You’d be a great farm girl! Let me know if you want to come to Kansas and work some cattle while wearing a cowboy hat :)

  3. What a fun time with your family! I have also felt guilty after a night of excessive drink and food. The next day I just try to drink a lot of water and get to the gym. Even if I just do the elliptical for a while, I feel better. It’s hard not to beat yourself up, but I try to remember that as long as I don’t continue to eat and drink like that, one night of unhealthy choices won’t make a difference to my body.

I LOVE tailgating!!! I’ve never tailgating before a concert before, but I think it needs to happen. One of the things I’m most excited about when it comes to being a college student again is going to tailgates :-) It looks like you had so much fun with your family – and your cowgirl hat is cute!

I do get that guilty feeling sometimes – mainly if I eat a lot of fried food, just because it doesn’t make me feel good later. I don’t go crazy, but I always like to eat a lot of veggies the next day and then I feel “reset” back to normal.

  5. So freaking fun! Oh man I miss tailgating in college. I have never done it outside of a school thing, a concert sounds fun!

  6. AH I love Kenny Chesney and his concerts. I’ve gone the past 3 years but not this year. :( Looks like you had a great time!

It looks like you had a great time. Sometimes you just gotta kick back and enjoy yourself. Which is why I generally don’t feel guilty when I over indulge, although I usually have a food hangover.

  8. What a fun day girl! I’m glad you let yourself go, and enjoyed some “unhealthy” and delicious foods. It’s not going to hurt to indulge from time time, I mean it’s all about balance right?? :)

I don’t think it’s a guilty feeling, more of my stomach is bloated and I don’t wanna get off the couch feeling haha

  9. Wow this looks like so much fun! I’m British and have never been to anything like that but it looks great :) I always feel guilty when I’ve over-indulged but I’m getting better at coping with it now. I find the best way to deal with it is to use it as something to spur on the next day’s work out. Always makes me run that little bit faster :) Also, without treats like this life just becomes so dull!

  10. Those honey wheat pretzels are so addicting! I don’t blame you for eating handfuls of them! And yes, sometimes I do get that guilty feeling. I just try to tell myself that it’s a new day, and I need to make healthier choices!

  11. being from WV, I LOVE LOVE country music. In fact, my best friend from home who now lives in NYC went to the same concert as you! her parents flew up to go with her – I wanted to come, but just couldn’t make it. I’m so glad to see someone else shares my love for tailgating, country music, & post-drinking food comas!
