Our (2nd) First Anniversary Celebration!

… and somehow, it’s Monday again.  I hope that everyone had a great weekend full of lots of fun and relaxation!  The summer weekends sure fly by, don’t they?

Bobby and I had a great *second* First Anniversary Celebration! ;)   As I mentioned, even though we technically celebrated our anniversary on the actual date, we wanted to do something special after we returned back from our trip.  Celebrating in Barcelona was so special, but we couldn’t bring our cake or any gifts with us… not to mention we were extremely jet lagged after traveling for 12 hours and no sleep!  :)

After getting in a good workout and running some errands, we showered up and popped open some bubbly (in our wedding flutes, of course :) ) to kick off our celebration!

While drinking our champagne, we looked at our wedding album for the first time!  As I mentioned on twitter, I picked up the album on Friday, and had to use all my willpower not to peek at it without Bobby!  It was worth the wait…

We are so happy with how it turned out!  :)

Next up, exchanging gifts and cards!  Bobby and I are really picky about the cards that we get people.  We both spend way too much time picking out just the perfect card!  Well, as it turned out… we both apparently found that *perfect* card for our anniversary to each other…

Yes, that is the exact same card.  Great minds think alike! :)

Once we finished off our glasses of champagne, we headed out the door to The Chart House in Weehawken.  It was a beautiful night and the view of Manhattan was breathtaking!

While we waited for our table to be ready, we decided to hit up the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail.  I checked out the menu and immediately knew what I wanted….

The Fiery Cucumber sounded perfect, and it did not disappoint!

It was amazing.

We enjoyed our drinks while working up an appetite, which you need if you are ever planning on visiting The Chart House.  They have so many delicious choices, and are known for their fresh fish.  To start off, Bobby and I shared the Coconut Crusted Shrimp, which was amazing.

My entree was the star of the show, though.

In case you didn’t pick up on it, I LOVE lobster.  When I saw they had a lobster tail entree, I knew I had to get it.

This lobster tail was quite possibly the best fish I’ve ever eaten.  No, that’s a lie… it was the best I’ve ever eaten.

Usually, lobster needs the drawn butter to add some flavor to it, but not this little guy.  I honestly didn’t even need the butter… it was seasoned so perfectly!  Bobby got the prime rib, and he was just as happy with his meal.  :)

After finishing up our entrees, we skipped dessert because we knew we had a treat waiting for us at home…

As an anniversary gift, the bakery where we got our wedding cake makes a whole new top-tier for you (for free).  That way, you don’t have to worry about freezing the top-tier because you get a fresh one!  We couldn’t wait to dig in… chocolate cake, cappuccino filling, and buttercream frosting.  Heaven.

Bobby and I ate our cake, had a few more glasses of champagne, and enjoyed every minute of our *second* First Anniversary Celebration!  It was a perfect night… :)

What did you do this weekend??

For those married folk, what was your wedding cake?  If you’re not married… what would your dream one be? :)

What was the best thing you ate this weekend?

  1. That looks like the perfect way to celebrate! Our wedding cake was caramel with a buttercream frosting.

  2. Aw what a great way to spend the anniversary! Congrats, :-)

  3. How fun that you actually get to celebrate twice! For our wedding we just had a marble cake with white buttercream frosting, but we actually served three kinds of cupcakes: strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting–they were amaaazing and we hardly had any left at the end of the night!

  4. I’m so happy for you that your wedding album turned out great- that is so important because it is something you’ll be able to look at for years and years to come! What a wonderful evening the two of you must have had- so many happy memories to look back on! :) ……My wedding cake was delicious after a year, it was just a plain white cake with white frosting while we had some of the grooms cake left over too (a football cake made by my amazing sister!) it was delicious after a year too. Kind of crazy to think about but they were wonderful!!!!

  5. That martini looks sooo good!! Our wedding cake was vanilla with white chocolate filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Simple but SO delicious! I could have eaten that entire cake myself! Haha! ;)

    • Sometimes simple cakes tastes the best, and yours sounds delicious!! And that martini was AMAZING. I had to seriously pace myself from not drinking it too fast because it just tasted so good.

  6. Congratulations (again) you two <3 Your night sounds beyond amazing. I love that you both got each other the same card, too cute.
