Starting the Summer right!

Heyyyy guys and gals… it’s time for the weekend!!!  :)

I hope everyone’s going to be spending this weekend doing something fun and relaxing, and maybe crossing some things off your Summer Bucket List??  Based on the comments from my bucket list post, this is going to be an exciting summer for a lot of us!  Babies, new homes, new jobs, weddings, travel, etc.  Such exciting stuff!!

After cleaning up odds and ends in my classroom on Wednesday morning, I kicked off my summer the most relaxing way I know how… with a massage and a facial.

I had a ton of SpaFinder gift cards that I’ve been hoarding for a while now, and I figured that it was the perfect time to cash those babies in.

Originally I was going to get a Hot Stone Massage, but considering that the temperatures were in the high 90′s, I opted out of that for a Swedish Massage & 45 minute Facial at Pleasant Road Spa.  I’ve had a few massages before, but this one…. ahhhmazing.  By far the best I’ve ever gotten.  If anyone lives in the Hoboken area, I highly recommend this place!

Not a bad way to kick off summer, huh? ;)

Yesterday was spent running a million errands and finally doing some things that I’ve been putting off doing for a while now.  For some reason, I loathe returning things to stores.  It just always seems like such a chore!

I managed to conquer that chore yeseterday, and happened to pick up some goodies for myself while I was out and about!  I’ve been in need of summer basics and clothes to take on our trip, so I hit up Ann Taylor Loft (15% off for all teachers… SCORE), The Gap, and of course… Target.

My goodies from The Loft….

and from The Gap (most comfortable tanks ever… go buy them now!)

and last but not least, good old Target

My goodies from Target had me the most excited (minus Bobby’s boring toiletries and my contact solution).  Two new bathing suits (that actually fit well), a new book (I love Elin Hilderbrand), and weight lifting gloves!!!

I’ve been wanting some gloves for Bodypump recently.  I find that I’m scared to put extra weight onto my bar because I get nervous the it will slip from my hands.  It’s hard to get a good grip when your hands are sweaty (and I have irrational fears of everything, including the bar falling and hitting me smack on the head during an over-head press).

Today was my first day trying out my gloves, and I loved them!  Not only was I able to load up my bar with heavier weights, but I also kinda think I looked pretty badass. ;)

Although I think sneakily taking this picture in class rules out my “badass-ness.”

Alright, I’m off to kick-start the weekend.  We are planning on spending our night in tonight, taking turns sticking our faces in front of our dinky little air conditioning to get some relief from this heat, although this little guy seems to be hogging it for now…

We are heading down to the beach tomorrow, but for right now, I’m going to celebrate it being Friday with this delicious treat…

Have a good one!  :)

Thoughts on weight lifting gloves?

Do you have any irrational fears, or is that just me?!

What are your weekend plans???

  1. oh man so many awesome finds. successful day for sure.

  2. Those look like ADORABLE bathing suits! :) …I also love when I get a new book! Especially from an author that I already know that I like. Am I a nerd or just a teacher? HA!
Irrational fears- OH YES! I hate to plug things in- I’m a little afraid of electricity. Okay, a lot afraid….. I have been electrocuted about 4 times in my life- each one terrifying and painful so I am scared of plugging things in. Yep, it’s weird and irrational but I just can’t get over it!

    • Oh my gosh! Julie I think that since you’ve been electricuted 4 times it’s a REAL fear, not irrational!! Haha geeze… scary!!!
And I’m pretty sure (I know) I’m a nerd, so we can be excited about books together. :)

  3. Target has such great swimsuits this year (for a quarter of the price of the ones at the mall!). Your stuff is all super cute. Enjoy the beach!
