These next few days…

  •  will start off with an ice-cold, fizzy Kombucha for an extra dose of happiness and calm

  • I will do my best to not freak out as my students dribble ice cream and chocolate syrup all over the classroom during our end-of-the-year Ice Cream party today

source

  • I will take deep breaths and remember how exciting ice cream is to me too, rather than get frustrated and lose my patience each time I am asked, “Mrs. S… but WHEN are we having our ice cream?!?!”

  • I will try to hold back my tears as I get hug after hug from my little kiddos as they realize that our year together is coming to an end

  • I will be PROUD of all the hard work that they’ve done throughout the school year as I take down our “All – Star” Bulletin Board

  • I will make sure all of my students have the chance to finally sit in the beloved “Book Nook Chair”

  • I will be thankful for everything that this amazing group of students have taught me over the past 10 months, and the thousands of smiles and laughs that they have brought me

  • and last, but not least… I will try my HARDEST not to say this out loud… no promises though. ;)

What was your most memorable year when you were in school and why??

What is something that you’d like to remember for yourself over the next few days?

How was your weekend?!  What did you do? :)

  1. Enjoy your last week of school! I loved 2nd grade. I had a young, fun teacher, and that was the year I really started to enjoy reading chapter books, so I loved when I got to pick out new ones from the library. I’d love to teach 2nd grade one day :) .

  2. The last week is here! Yay!! Don’t be dumb like me and have the kids clean their desks off BEFORE the ice cream party! hahaha
This year was weird for me.. I”ve been ready for the year to be over since like.. mid May. But the last week of school… I had a change of heart and now I miss my kids So much! Really strange.

Enjoy every moment of these last few days.. and then hit up happy hour after your last day is done! You deserve it and made a HUGE difference in the lives of your students this year! :)

    • Yes! I feel the exact same way…. I’ve been SO ready for this year to be over but now I’m really sentimental and don’t want to say goodbye. Your comment made me tear up! :)

  4. AMAZING post! You truly summed up what those last few days of school feel like… for a teacher. Have fun at your ice cream party and enjoy those last few moments with the kiddos- gosh, that feeling when they all walk out the door on the last day and you’re sitting there with an empty classroom…. weirdest.feeling.ever!
Good luck, have fun, and….. that your e-card ROCKED MY SOCKS OFF!!!!! :)

  5. HA the last card is great. congratulations, what a way to go out!

  6. haha i love that saying at the end. congrats on being done!

  7. Love it. You’re so close … I can feel your excitement! I loved school as a whole – but I think my favorite year was the 6th grade. I had the BEST teacher. I’ve even emailed her as an adult, to thank her for helping me become a solid writer (she helped me become a published poet!) and inspiring a love for words. I wouldn’t do as well at my job without that!

You are too cute! It must be so nice to have your summer off after working so hard during the school year, looks like you certainly deserve a break! I’m sure your kiddies are going to miss you so much. My favorite teacher was my first grade teacher Mrs. Holman, but luckily I was in a “looping class” so I had her again for second grade :) Enjoy your last week and your ice-cream party!

Great post! Congrats on making it through the year!
Random question: Is Kombucha good? I want to try it but just haven’t had the guts to buy it yet. Which flavors do you suggest?

  10. defintely grade 5 because we won a science project and went on a ‘big’ trip, also we had a wonderful teacher. I want to go to your ice-cream party, ice cream is my fave. I’d be the same as you, though, I’d be focused on the mess that they’re making. haha!

  11. Wow, school has been out here since the end of May. I cannot imagine sending my kids to school in the middle of June. I am guessing y’all must start back in September whereas my kids start towards the end of August here.

    Welcome to Summertime!!!
