A weekend of no plans but lots of fun!

…. and somehow, it’s Monday again.

Did anyone else’s weekend fly by? Mine definitely did, but it was all so much fun! This was the first weekend in a long time that we had no plans…. no weddings, no half marathon, no bachelorette party, and no bridal shower! Nothing!

As much as I loved being a part of such fun things, it was nice to be able to just relax this weekend.

Friday night was date night! It’s been so long since Bobby and I got to go out together, that we wanted to take full advantage.

$3 vodka cocktail happy hour?! Perfect way to start a weekend. I got pomegranate vodka and club soda with lots of lime on the side. Our waitress clearly took my “lots of lime” request seriously.

After hanging out and chatting for a bit, we headed next door to 1 Republik for some dinner. I got the Arugula salad, which I was nervous wouldn’t fill me up, but it was delicious and I was more than satisfied afterwards! The salad had shaved pecorino, roasted lemon vinaigrette, and grilled salmon on top.

I truly think I could eat that salad every day for the rest of my life and be a happy camper.

After dinner, Bobby and I headed home to our couch, where we watched some shows on DVR and I started reading the second 50 Shades book! So far, so good! ;)

It was a perfect Friday!

Saturday morning we slept in until around 8 before heading out the door to the gym. I was so excited to have no time constraints for my workout! After warming up with 20 minutes on the elliptical, I completed one of Julie’s circuit workouts.

I’m still sore, and it feels glorious. :) Before heading home, I rounded out my workout with 25 more minutes on the elliptical. Such a great way to start my Saturday!

Bobby and I spent the remainder of our day doing chores around the apartment and running some errands. I also attempted my first sock bun….

I’m pretty excited about this little discovery after spotting many sock buns pop up on quite a few blogs recently.

Around 4, I decided to head into NYC to meet up with some girl friends for some dinner and drinks!

It was a gorgeous afternoon, so we decided to go someplace where we could sit outside by the water.

We got a couple of pitchers of white sangria, which were amazing. Since I’m trying my best to cut back on my sugar intake though, I stuck to one small glass before switching to a white wine spritzer.

Gorgeous view from our table…

We were having such a blast that before we knew it, it was 10 and we still hadn’t eaten yet. Although I wasn’t feeling super hungry, I knew I needed to get some food in my stomach.

I suppressed my slightly buzzed desire for fried bar food, and ordered a simple green salad with grilled chicken. I was actually pretty impressed with my willpower, but thinking about my hard workout earlier in the day and being in a bikini in Bermuda helped make my decision easier!

We had such a fun night. It was one of those nights where my cheeks hurt from laughing!

We called it a night around midnight and I made my way back home to Bobby. :)

Yesterday was spent doing some blog work (updated the Classroom page and dropped the “.wordpress” from my blog name :) ), a trip to the mall, and relaxing with Bobby and Romo… perfect end to a perfect weekend!

What was the BEST part of your weekend?

What salad could you eat for the rest of your life?

  1. I’m pretty sure I’d fail miserably at a sock bun. I can’t even make a good looking ponytail… (but I can french braid my own hair, weird right? That’s my only hair skill.) Yours looks so cute, though!

  2. Wow! What a fabulous view … just gorgeous! I LOVE the sock bun. It’s my go to when my hair doesn’t want to cooperate. The best part of my weekend was seeing my parents for a little bit … and be completely lazy yesterday :)

Congrats on the domain name!! That is exciting :-)
I think I’m going to have to try a sock bun now, although I’m not sure if my hair is quite long enough. Yours looks awesome!

  6. Your weekend does sound pretty great! :) Time on your side and not being completely committed to someone’s schedule probably felt like bliss after all of your busy weekends! …..YAY for the domain name and willpower. I’m pretty sure I would be motivated by a trip with a bikini too! :)

  7. My super thin hair failed at my only sock bun attempt too – but I heard the technique has been perfected from the original video I watched, so I may have to try again! ;)

    • I’d say definitely give it another shot….. mine looked a little crazy the first time, but I started to get the hang of it after a few! Plus, lot’s of hair spray of course! :)

Seriously the weekends go by soo soo fast doesn’t it? I look forward to it all week long, and here I am…it’s the start of the week and I am at school =(. The hubby and I’s definition of a saturday date is to try to knock out as many errands as we possibly can. How sad. And on Sunday, we actually spent the day watching t.v and making dumplings. That was nice =)
