First of all, thank you… thank you… thank you. Your sweet comments on my post about my fears, confusions, and hopes about blogging were so sweet, and each one of them made me so happy to be a member of this amazing blogging community!
Second of all, I hope you all had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!! I apologize for being MIA since Saturday, but I had an amazing weekend, and I’m so excited to share it all with you guys!
As I mentioned, my 30th birthday was last week, and although Bobby and I celebrated it with lobster, frozen yogurt, and wine on Tuesday, he also told me that he had dinner planned for this Saturday night with my entire family down at the Jersey Shore.
On Saturday, Bobby and I had a great workout before packing up our bags and heading down to see my family at the shore. We spent the day by my Nana’s pool lounging and swimming with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was a beautiful day, and I enjoyed every second of it!
Bobby told me I had to be ready for dinner by 6:30, and that we were going to my favorite casual summertime restaurant (it was also where Bobby and I went the night before our rehearsal dinner last summer).
Well, we pulled up to the restaurant, and this happened…
My amazing husband had planned for all of my family and friends to meet us at the restaurant for a surprise birthday celebration! I was shocked!
I had talked with many of my friends earlier that day, and nobody let anything slip, and everyone seemed to have their own Memorial Day celebrations going on, so you can imagine my surprise to see them all there!
Bobby had apparently been planning this for months, and had thought of every last detail. He had plenty of food, booze, and decorations set up! I was so overwhelmed at first, but after getting a glass of wine in my hands and giving Bobby the biggest hug in the world, I was able to relax and have a blast chatting it up with everyone!
After a few hours, everyone chowed down on some lobster and some delicious cake! Bobby presented me with this carrot cake (my favorite), and gave a little speech about me turning 30!
We even had a little red lobster guest come celebrate!
The night continued well into the morning hours at another bar and then eventually a diner run (so gross, but so needed!). The entire night was an absolute blast, and it meant the world to me that Bobby put this all together for me and that all my family and friends were there to help celebrate my birthday!
The next morning we woke up and were feeling a little less than stellar, obviously. We hung out at my aunt and uncles pool for a while before making our way to Bob’s (my mom’s boyfriend) boat.
It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to stay out for a while and grill on the dock for dinner with my mom and Bob. My in-law’s also decided to join us, and we had a blast just relaxing on the dock with burgers and potato salad!
Hands down, it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very long time, and I loved every second of it. It was the perfect way to kick of my 30th year!
How did you spend your weekend?
What was the best thing you ate over Memorial Day weekend?
Have you ever had someone throw a surprise party for you?
Would you ever want a surprise party thrown for you?

How sweet of him!! How are you already so tan? I’m jealous
.
Haha honestly it’s not so much of a tan, but more of a burn. I was at the pool all during the day and got way too much sun… oops!
That sounds so great! So many surprise parties get leaked and it is awesome yours was a true to tell ‘surprise’ party! Happy belated birthday also! And carrot cake is my fave too!
I mean what can’t top cream cheese frosting?
I know! I couldn’t believe that with everything that was put into it, I never caught on! Cream cheese frosting…. THE BEST.
Aw! I’m so happy for you! That is simply amazing and so stinking sweet! <3 What a way to kick off your 30th year- truly awesome! ….I don't know how I'd feel about the surprise party- I would have been shocked, just like you, in the beginning but then overwhelmingly touched by all the thought and love put into it….. even down to the CARROT CAKE!!!!
PS- I love how happy the two of you look in these pictures! Stinking.adorable.
Thank you!!
And yes, I never knew how I would handle a surprise party either, but after I got over the initial shock (and my knees stopped shaking) it was awesome!
So cute! Happy birthday. Love the lobster that came to party with you!
Haha isn’t that lobster amazing?!
What a great guy! It sounds like this party blows all past birthdays out of the water
It was my favorite by far!!
How fantastic! That sounds like a wonderful celebration – you have such a sweet husband! And you look gorgeous in these photos, girl
You’re 30?! Pffft!
I didn’t comment on your post about blogging confusion … but I want you to know I have it bookmarked on my computer. It was a tremendous relief to know that someone else has the same type of insecurities about blogging as I do … and by saving it, it will serve as a little reminder that I’m alright
That is awesome and makes me so happy! I was nervous that I was the only crazy one with feelings like that, but it’s so nice to know I’m not alone!
Such a fun weekend! I love surprise parties
I spent my weekend packing…yuck. We’re moving on Thursday, but already have cookouts planned for next weekend to make up for the lost time!
Yay! Congrats on moving…. Packing is the worst, but at least you have fun cookouts planned to look forward to!
Looks like so much fun! Go Bobby! What a great surprise! I’ve never had a surprise party thrown for me that I didn’t accidentally find out about! I would love a true surprise one though! I laughed during the “surprise” part accidentally when someone told me beforehand about a surprise birthday party. Glad you had so much fun, you look beautiful! Happy 30th!
Thank you! I always thought I would definetly know if a surprise party was planned, but somehow it managed to be kept a secret!
OMG, i am so glad you had such a great weekend – your husband is just too cute for taking it upon himself to plan a surprise so special for you!!! Hope the rest of 30 treats you just as well, you deserve it!
Thank you!!!
Awwww, what an amazing surprise! Bobby is definitely a keeper
I love the look on your face in the third photo – and your hair looks great!
Hahah that was my look of shock as I tried to take it all in!
This is so sweet! I love surprise parties!
Aren’t they the best??
