MDW: A Surprise party, boating, family and friends = Perfection!

First of all, thank you… thank you… thank you.  Your sweet comments on my post about my fears, confusions, and hopes about blogging were so sweet, and each one of them made me so happy to be a member of this amazing blogging community!  :)

Second of all, I hope you all had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!!  I apologize for being MIA since Saturday, but I had an amazing weekend, and I’m so excited to share it all with you guys!

As I mentioned, my 30th birthday was last week, and although Bobby and I celebrated it with lobster, frozen yogurt, and wine on Tuesday, he also told me that he had dinner planned for this Saturday night with my entire family down at the Jersey Shore.

On Saturday, Bobby and I had a great workout before packing up our bags and heading down to see my family at the shore.  We spent the day by my Nana’s pool lounging and swimming with my aunts, uncles, and cousins.  It was a beautiful day, and I enjoyed every second of it!

Bobby told me I had to be ready for dinner by 6:30, and that we were going to my favorite casual summertime restaurant (it was also where Bobby and I went the night before our rehearsal dinner last summer).

Well, we pulled up to the restaurant, and this happened…

My amazing husband had planned for all of my family and friends to meet us at the restaurant for a surprise birthday celebration!  I was shocked!

I had talked with many of my friends earlier that day, and nobody let anything slip, and everyone seemed to have their own Memorial Day celebrations going on, so you can imagine my surprise to see them all there!

Bobby had apparently been planning this for months, and had thought of every last detail.  He had plenty of food, booze, and decorations set up!  I was so overwhelmed at first, but after getting a glass of wine in my hands and giving Bobby the biggest hug in the world, I was able to relax and have a blast chatting it up with everyone!

After a few hours, everyone chowed down on some lobster and some delicious cake!  Bobby presented me with this carrot cake (my favorite), and gave a little speech about me turning 30!

We even had a little red lobster guest come celebrate!

The night continued well into the morning hours at another bar and then eventually a diner run (so gross, but so needed!).  The entire night was an absolute blast, and it meant the world to me that Bobby put this all together for me and that all my family and friends were there to help celebrate my birthday!

The next morning we woke up and were feeling a little less than stellar, obviously.  We hung out at my aunt and uncles pool for a while before making our way to Bob’s (my mom’s boyfriend) boat.

It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to stay out for a while and grill on the dock for dinner with my mom and Bob.  My in-law’s also decided to join us, and we had a blast just relaxing on the dock with burgers and potato salad!

Hands down, it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very long time, and I loved every second of it.  It was the perfect way to kick of my 30th year! :)

How did you spend your weekend?

What was the best thing you ate over Memorial Day weekend?

Have you ever had someone throw a surprise party for you?

I didn’t comment on your post about blogging confusion … but I want you to know I have it bookmarked on my computer. It was a tremendous relief to know that someone else has the same type of insecurities about blogging as I do … and by saving it, it will serve as a little reminder that I’m alright :)
