W.I.A.W: Yum.

Hi lovelies!! Happy Wednesday! How’s everyone’s week going? :)

For me, this week is MUCH better than last, lemme tell ya. I finally feel like I’m back into my routine after a week off for spring break. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve slept for 8 or 9 hours each night either… when I am fully rested, I am a different person!

Let’s take a look at my eats from Tuesday, and to learn more about What I Ate Wednesday, go check out Jenn over at Peas and Crayons!

7:45 – Kombucha Trilogy sipped on during the way to work

I was very stuck on the Gingerade flavor for a while, but this flavor has become my newest obsession. So fizzy and yummy!

8:15 – Apple Cinnamon Protein Mix

I adapted this “recipe” from Tina’s 3-ingredient Apple Cinnamon Pancakes. Instead of making them into “pancakes” (because clearly I have a problem keeping them in one piece), I decided to just mix it together in a pot. In the mix:

  • 1 apple diced small
  • 3 egg whites
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • splash of almond milk
  • 1 TBSP ground flax seed

This was amazing! It tasted like apple cinnamon oatmeal, and the protein from the eggs kept me full all morning long! I can see these quickly becoming a staple in my breakfast routine.

11:45 – Flatout wrap with hummus, lettuce and sprouts. A veggie filled side salad and ice-cold Fresca on the side!

This lunch was delicious, filling, and full of veggies…perfect!

2:30 – Unpictured chocolate protein smoothie (Chocolate whey protein powder and unsweetened almond milk)

Usually at this time I’ll have something smaller like a handful of pistachios to hold me over until I get home, but I needed something more substantial yesterday. I knew I’d be heading out for a run and to Bodypump after work, so I packed something that would fuel me enough for my workout.

7:00 – Broiled salmon, roasted brussel sprouts, and sautéed sesame spinach

Yum. Yum. Yum. This dinner was perfect after a 3 mile run and seriously tough Bodypump class! Bobby and I threw this together once we got home from the gym, and it hit the spot!

8:00 – Small bowl of Arctic Zero Ice Cream to satisfy my raging sweet tooth! :)

What is your ideal amount of sleep a night? Do you notice a difference if you get more or less?

What have your eats been like this week? What was the most delicious thing you’ve had??

Tell me something that has made you happy this week! :)

  1. I always shoot for 8 hours, but end up somewhere around 7! Most delicious food I’ve had this week was probably some frozen yogurt. That stuff is addicting.

  2. Since I have become pregnant the sleeping situation has been a complete necessity! I used to be okay with 6 or 7 but now that is a MUST and I seriously need 7.5-8.5 and 9 on the weekends.
I need to get my hands on that Zero ice cream!

    • Oh man… I can’t imagine how much sleep I’ll need when/if I start having babies (knock in wood) if that’s the case! You really need to find the arctic zero…. It’s amazing!

I get up at 6 or 6:30 every morning and I usually start to get sleepy around 10:30 or 11 each night. I strive for at least 7 hours of sleep a night. I find if I get more, I end up feeling WAY too sleepy the rest of the day. Weird, huh? But I can totally function on 6-7 hours sleep no problem! My eats this past week were comfort food but healthy and without too much indulging. A lot of pasta dishes but more loaded with veggies, spices, etc. than with pasta. Delicious!

  4. I notice that I can function on less than 8, but I’ll be crabby and fall asleep super early the next day. Around 9 hours is perfect.

  5. I usually function with 7-9 hours of sleep, but 8+ hours makes me very happy! :-)

  6. That salmon = awesome. Your scarf = cute.

I always try and shoot for 8-9 hours. If I go a couple of days only getting 6 or 7, I get craaaaanky. And trust me, nobody wants that.

  7. I love artic zero ice cream, peanut butter chocolate is my favorite! Cookies and cream also isn’t too shabby. I need to get at least 8 hrs of sleep a night, sometimes I get even more!

    • I’ve heard vanilla maple is really, really good and tasted exactly like real ice cream. I’ll have to try the flavors you mentioned too…. So much “ice cream” to try, what a shame! ;)

  8. I really want to find that Artic Zero! Where do you normally buy it?

  9. WhitLikesFit says:

Your dinner looks so good! I have been craving salmon lately. I get about 7 hours a night. Ideally I’d get 8 but that never seems to happen.

  10. Mandiee says:

Your lunch sounds so good! I love hummus wraps, and veggie-filled side salads are a must. What do you think of the kombuchas? I’ve always been afraid to try them since I don’t like pop/soda. My ideal amount of sleep is 9 hours, but that never actually happens (boo). Usually when I’m at school, I get about 5-6 hours at night plus a 2 hour nap. It isn’t the best, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

  11. I’m the same way! I need my sleep…otherwise I had no energy. It’s horrible…

You should be a model for Kombucha…because that picture is very cute :)

  12. erinmotz says:

I can’t even answer your questions because I’m SO AMAZED that this ice cream pictured has 150 calories PER PINT! That’s amazing. Heaven-sent. Wow.

  13. I do best with 8 hours of sleep, but here I am on the computer and it’s almost midnight! Wait til you have kids…if you want time to get things done you have to stay up!

I’ve never had Kombucha, but bought a couple of them tonight. I will try one in the morning!

    • Oh man, I can only imagine the lack of sleep that comes along with kids!! I admire you!
What flavors did you buy?? Did you like them??

      • Emily says:

Had Passionberry Bliss yesterday. Gingerade today. Love them both! They are on sale right now at our local natural food store for $2.49…I’m going back this weekend!

  14. Ive heard good things about those synergy drinks whats your favorite flavor?

  15. Becca says:

I have to have 8 hours of sleep otherwise I become little miss cranky pants :) My meals have been kinda boring this week, with that being said my favorite was my lasagna from last night.

  16. Alison says:

I like to get 8 hours of sleep for sure. Generally I can wake up naturally after 8 hours, which is a big clue to me that it’s how much I need!

  17. Michelle says:

I’ve never seen that Arctic Zero ice cream – I’ll have to look for it!

I like to get 8 hours during the week, but I’ll be okay with anything more than 7. I go to bed super early so it’s not usually a problem :-) On the weekend, I prefer at least 8 and a half!
