Vegas Recap #3 and 11 Mile Success

Hi everyone…. iiiittt’sss Friday!!!  I hope you are all having a fabulous day! :)   It’s been a busy, long week, and I apologize for waiting until now to finish up my Vegas recap.  If you want to check out the first two, here ya go:

Las Vegas Recap # 1

Las Vegas Recap #2

Last I left off, we were just finishing off our night at around 6 a.m. with pizza (typical Vegas night cap, I assume), so needless to say, we were zombies on Saturday morning.  We didn’t emerge from the cave of our rooms until around 2, and the fact that we needed food was the only thing that motivated us.  We scarfed down too much grease breakfast/lunch and decided to walk around a bit and see the Vegas sights.

First stop, the fountain out front of the Bellagio (which immediately started up a 15 minute conversation on how small it looks in real life compared to what it looked like on The Bachelor this past season).

After watching the fountain show, we walked around a bit more.  There are some serious characters walking around Las Vegas.  It seemed that many people enjoy dressing up as characters from Disney movies.  Then we saw this scene….

This cat sat on the woman’s lap like a child!  It was so strange to see, and I could swear that the cat was drugged.  He just sat there letting people touch him wearing those sunglasses.  All I could think about was what my cat, Romo, would do if I tried to get him in that position.  Spaz attack.

Anyway, after a bit we’d had enough of the Vegas crazies, so we decided to grab some drinks and find a little outdoor table to hang out at.

Everyone decided on frozen cocktails, but I wanted something lighter, so I opted for a Blackberry Dragon Mojito!

This was delicious!  It had fresh blackberries and mint, and was worth all of the thousands of dollars that I basically paid for it.

We hung out for a bit before deciding to head indoors and play some slots.  I only had a $50 bill on me, so I told myself that I’d only play with $10 of it.

That didn’t happen.

At one point, I was up to $70, but somehow it magically disappeared to $0 within a few minutes.

Anywayyyy…. after an hour or so, we decided to head back up to the rooms to shower up and get ready to go out.

This is when it gets shameful….

We grabbed some wine on the way up to the room for pregaming, and before we knew it, hours had flown by.

We were still in our daytime clothes, the bachelorette had fallen asleep sitting up, two others were asleep on the ground, and the few of us that were awake were actually lying on the pull out couch.  Not only that, but we were spying on the people in the parking garage below (which we had a fabulous view of).

So that’s how we spent our last night in Las Vegas.

Our college selves would have been embarrassed and ashamed of such a poor showing, but we actually really enjoyed ourselves!  Give us wine, our best friends, and people to spy on and we are golden!

Regardless, waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready to leave (okay, it was 8 a.m.) was extremely difficult.  Even more difficult?  Saying goodbye to each other. :(

I slept most of the way home, and was so excited to see Bobby waiting for me at the airport with a chocolate coconut water and a chocolate covered pretzel in his hands.  :)

My husband knows how to cure my hangover/withdrawal from my girlfriends!

It was an amazing trip, and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to experience it with girls I love so much.

Back in Reality:

It’s taken me quite some time to get readjusted.  I just can’t party like I used to, that’s for sure!

On Saturday, I have another bridal shower/bachelorette party (I know, I know…. it’s honestly never ending… I’m not going to even talk about the fact that I’m in another wedding next weekend… one at a time…), so I knew that my only chance to get in my 11 mile training run was yesterday.

Truthfully, the thought of lacing up my sneakers and hitting the pavement for 11 miles after a full day of work was enough to bring me to tears…. but I did it! :)

It was a beautiful day outside, and although there were times when I really wanted to give up, I cursed my way through it and came out alive!

Anyway, Bobby and I have some plans to hang out and do a whole lot of NOTHING tonight, which I couldn’t be more thankful for! :)

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

What are your weekend plans?

Do you like doing long runs on the weekdays?  Does it make you want to cry as much as it made me?

Do you think it’s as ridiculous as I do that we spent our last night in Vegas doing absolutely nothing and loving every second?!  :)

  1. That last night sounds FANTASTIC. You’ll remember that forever. Some of my favorite nights and memories include my best friends, wine, sweatpants, and stupid TV. And if there is spying involved, even better. Seriously … that sounds awesome.

+5 points to Bobby for your airport treats! He wins at life (and you obviously do too!)

    • Yeah the last night was quite honestly, hilarious and exactly what we needed after the other crazy nights!

Bobby scored serious points for that airport pickup. Um, and you CLEARLY win at life too. :)

  2. Was that seriously a real cat?! It looks creepy!!!!
Weekend plans include a deep clean of the house tomorrow and yard work consuming our afternoon. Sunday we’ll be going to church and then doing absolutely nothing the rest of the day :)

Awesome job on that 11-miler! I think the longest I’ve ever run on a weekday (during the school year… because in the summer every day is a weekend) is maybe 6 miles. Even when I was training for a marathon, I skipped all of the weekday runs longer than that because I’m a morning runner and there’s no way I was waking up THAT early :-)

Your last night in Vegas sounds perfect! One of my favorite nights in college involves hanging out in our apartment eating cookie dough and drinking wine. And maybe some tequila ;-)

    • I really hated every second of the weekday long run. I didn’t have nearly as much energy as I do on the weekends!
Haha I had a night filled with eating cookie dough (straight from the tube of course) and wine in college too! So much fun! :)

  4. Everyone’s getting marrrieeed :) ! Weddings are fun though..tiring, but fun! Have a great weekend!

  5. I know how those nights work- it just happens when I get together with my good friends too- all we want to do is sit and chat- especially if there is good wine involved.
….That poor cat, I don’t know how they would have gotten it to stay like that- mainly with all of the strangers around and petting it!
