10 miles and A Drag Show

Happy Monday and happy April!  I’m not sure which one I’m more shocked about.  Time is flyyyying by!

Welp, I am moving slow today, folks.  I realize that the last thing you might want to read about on a Monday afternoon is flaming drinks and dragshows, but apparently my recovery mode yesterday prohibited me from blogging.  I apologize. :)

My Saturday started off with my 10 mile training run.  As I mentioned in my Saturday’s post, the weather was not ideal.  It was rainy, windy and cold out.  I knew I had to get the run completed though, so I bundled up and sucked it up!

The first five miles I felt great and full of energy.  The second five miles…. not so much.  Between the wind, rain, and some knee pain, I was ready to be done.  I pushed on though, and successfully completed my 10 miler!

Truthfully, all I wanted afterwards was a hot shower and my sweats… but I knew I had to rally because we had a night of fun planned!  My friend Jenn (her bridal shower was one that I attended a few weeks back) was having her bachelorette party at Lucky Cheng’s in New York City!  I had never been to a drag show before, and wasn’t exactly sure what to expect.  I stood in front of my closet for a good amount of time trying to figure out what is appropriate attire for a drag show….

Apparently, I made the wrong choice with my jeans, heels and black blazer though because during one of the “shows,” a drag queen called me out and told me that my clothes scream “dull.”

Um, okay.  Now I know.  Appreciated and noted.

Anyway, we started off our night at the Thompson Hotel in NYC where some of the girls who were coming in from out of town were staying.

After a few hours of cocktails and bachelorette party games, we made our way out to Lucky Cheng’s.

Upon arriving, we ordered a flaming cocktail bucket which was interesting, although extremely sweet….

Just pretend you don’t see those straws.

After a few sips, I chose to switch over to white wine, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to handle much more of that drink.

Pretend you don’t see that straw either, please.

Honestly, I wasn’t really a fan of the experience.  The restaurant itself was filthy, and the food was nothing to brag about.  The drag show was hard to watch, and I have absolutely no pictures that are blog appropriate.  I’m no prude, but this was insane….

As soon as the “show” was over, the bachelorette requested we leave ASAP and take the party elsewhere!  We bounced around to a few different bars and had a great time dancing… the bars were much more our kind of scene compared to Lucky Cheng’s!

Around 2, I decided to catch a cab home… honestly I was so excited to crawl into bed.  That was, until I walked into our apartment and found Bobby still awake (he had gone out with some friends), with some hot pizza waiting.  It was heaven to come home to.  After a long night out with friends and a 10 mile run, I was thrilled with his pizza decision.

After chowing down, I face planted climbed into bed and slept until about 10 A.M.  Best sleep ever.  :)

Yesterday was spent lounging around and getting ready for the week ahead.  Bobby and I were both needing some serious relaxation and recovery after a busy weekend!

I hope you all had a wonderful rest of your weekend… only 4 days until the next one! :)

Have you ever been to a crazy bachelorette party?

How did you spend your weekend?  Any good workouts to share?

  1. WOWZA! That party sounds crazy- and your attire is cute + classic. I dig it! ….But then again, I don’t have the taste of a drag queen. ;) HA! I’m glad that it turned out to be a pretty good evening- I miss NYC nights! They were so much fun!
I had a boring weekend- full of school planning, nice long walks/jogs, cleaning out my dressers and such. Fun, fun. Not really but it was low key and I’m totally okay with that!

    • Haha thanks…. I was thinking the same thing… Clearllllyyy my taste in clothes is different than hers/his is! It was fun, but I’m a bit jealous of your low key, relaxing weekend…. I desperately need one of those!

  2. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable at a drag show either. I wouldn’t even know what to expect! For my bachelorette party, we’re going to paint pottery and have dinner. I realize that it’s really low-key for a bach party, but two of my bridesmaids are 14, and I want to do something that everyone will enjoy!

That sounds like quite the interesting drag show! I’m impressed on your willpower to push through the bad weather and get your run in- go girl!

  4. LOL at the drag queen comment. I wouldn’t be sure how to take that! lol

  5. I wore jeans, heels, and black blazer on Saturday too. I guess I’m boring as well ;) I went to a tasting event that night. My date and I wandered from vendor to vendor (I think there were about 30 of them?) tasting different food and wine. So much fun! And so delicious :)

    • Haha if you could have seen the outfit she was wearing I think you’d be okay with the “boring” outfit we chose!
That tasting event sounds amazing!!! Lots of different food and wine??? Right up my alley.

I’m pretty sure that compared to a drag queen, I’m pretty dull too :-) I once went to a bachelorette party where we took pole dancing lessons and I felt kind of boring next to the pros! But it was still a lot of fun.

Awesome job on the 10-mile run in less-than-stellar weather! You’re awesome!

  7. Haha oh my gosh pole dancing lessons! I would be horrendous, but if I was with a big group of friends I could see that being awesome! Thanks for the 10-mile cheer :)
