Liebster Award

Happy Saturday, friends! :)   I’m currently sitting around in my pj’s, letting my breakfast digest and trying to wait out this rain.  I have a ten-mile run planned for today, but this weather is really throwing a wrench in my plans.

Pre-run breakfast

Last night Bobby’s whole family came in to Hoboken to take us out for his birthday dinner.  We haven’t seen them in a while so it was such a fun get-together.  We went to a Hibachi restaurant and sat around the table eating delicious food and drinking plenty of red wine.  We then went to a bar up the street for a few more cocktails before calling it a night and heading home.  We were exhausted from the week, and we had to make it home for the megamillions drawing!!!

Did anyone else truly believe that they were going to win?

I certainly did.

I had plans…. big plans.  The thing that I was most excited for (and I’ll admit… I daydreamed about it all day yesterday), was calling my mom and telling her that she would never have to work again.  My mom is the most wonderful, hard-working person in the world.  She raised us as a single mom (my father was in and out of the picture), and worked her butt off to provide for me and my brothers.  She’s had some tough times, and I would love nothing more than to be able to give her what she deserves.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case this morning….

Yes, we are crazy.  We bought a lot.

Anyway…. after checking our numbers a few times and realizing that my dream would not be coming true at that time,  we called it an early night!  Hopefully I’ll be able to get out there for my run sooner rather than later… I have some fun and interesting plans on the agenda for tonight.  They involve a bachelorette party and a drag show.  Hm.  Like I said… should be interesting!

The Liebster Award

A few days ago, the lovely Whit from Whit Likes Fit, gave me a Liebster Award!  I wasn’t quite sure what it was at first, but I was flattered!  After learning more about it, I was even more flattered!  Whit described it as a sort of “chain letter” for blogs.

The Liebster Blog Award is awarded by bloggers to other new bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers, to help spread the word about their blogs and to help them gain wider recognition.

The Liebster award comes with four conditions that each recipient must satisfy when accepting:

1. Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.

2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blog so they know about the award.

4. Share 5 random facts about yourself that people don’t know about you.

Like Whit said, I’m not exactly sure how to tell if a blog has fewer than 200 followers, but I’m all for sharing new (to me, at least) blogs with others!  Please don’t be offended if I chose you and you have more followers than that, I just wanted to share your blogs because I love them! :)

That being said, here are my 5 blogs that I’d like to pass this on to.

Better with Berries

Yellow Haired Girl

Spinach and Sprinkles

Perfection Isn’t Happy

Blueberry Smiles

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

And here ya have it… 5 random facts about me….

1.  Bill Murray was my first crush.  I was crazy about Ghostbusters.  My brothers and I spent all of our free time playing Ghostbusters with the vacuum cleaner.

2.  I have a notebook that I carry everywhere with me that is filled with ideas for the book that I want to write.  I have it all planned out, one day I will be a published writer! :)

3.  I love the smell of Romo (my cat).  I can’t get enough of the way his head smells.  So strange, yes.  He’s got a sweet, powdery-like smell that I die for.

4.  I can’t deal with clutter, but behind closet doors or in drawers, I’m a complete mess.  I honestly can’t think straight if there is clutter around me, but once I shove everything in a closet and close the door, I feel much better! :)

5.  I really, really love red wine.

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

What would you be most excited for if you won the lottery?

Did you have any weird first crushes?

Any motivation/tips for running in the rain?  Ughhhh.  Want.to.stay.in.pj’s.

  2. My husband and I have always said that if we won a HUGE lottery that we would build our own subdivision and all of our friends would get to build their own houses and we would have a community clubhouse and swimming pool and stuff! We think it would be so fun! :)

  3. I was so bummed we didn’t win millions last night, I had some big plans for that money!

Ahh I love this!! Thank you, Alyssa! I’m so touched that you shared this with me – I’m so glad I found your blog. I love reading (especially the wedding recaps!) and I’ve loved getting to know you! I actually just thought of you today because Craig and I went to a Jersey-Style Pizza place (I didn’t know what to expect) and I had to tell him that I have a blog friend from New Jersey :-)

I love that Bill Murray was your first crush. One of mine was Haley Joel Osment when he was in the 6th Sense. I was so in love with him :-)

And it’s funny that you thought you were going to win, because I was 100% sure that I was going to win! I decided that I’d still go to school to be a dietitian and I would buy a house in the mountains in Colorado :-)

Have a great rest of your weekend – I’m excited to do the Liebster awards now!!

P.S. You will write a fantastic book one day!

    • Yay! I’m happy you like it! I’ve loved reading yours too, and so happy we are blog friends :)
How was the pizza??? I’m planning on devouring some serious NYC pizza tonight after this bachelorette party I’m going to! Enjoy the rest of your weekend too! :)

  5. I love this! Thank you so much :) If I won the lottery, I would take all of my friends on one big vacation. Somewhere with a big beach, and lots of fruity drinks. Ahhhhhhh I’m dreaming about it right now. Then I’d build my parents a dream home, my sister a dream home, and them myself a dream home. AND redo my entire closet, of course ;)

What’s life without big dreams?! Hahaha. Thanks again for the mention – I can’t wait to give this award out myself! Enjoy the rest of your weekend girl

  6. Aw! Thank you so much! I only wish that I would have found you blog sooner- for real! ….. I’m loving reading your blog and getting to know you through your posts! Teachers have so much in common it’s crazy!
I was so boy crazy that I don’t remember who my first crush was- wow, that’s sad. I had a huge thing for Josh Hartnett while in high school- right when Pearl Harbor came out…. As for the lottery, I love all that you want to do for your mom <3
    Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  7. Thank you so much for the award — I’m flattered!

I also thought that I was going to win the lotto. I’d planned to pay off my student loans, pay for my wedding, buy a house, set up a trust fund for my future kids, and give some to my parents and charity. Maybe someday ;) .

  8. My husband and I bought a ticket too! I hoped we were going to win, but I actually didn’t have that feeling in the pit of my stomach that we were! Oh well, maybe next time? :-) If I had won, I would have bought multiple homes: a beach house, a mountain home in Denver so my hubby could go to every home game of his beloved broncos, and a brownstone in Chicago that I could stay in when I went shopping on Michigan Ave. Ha go big, or go home right? :-)

  9. Thanks for the Liebster award!! And yes…I had been daydreaming about my lotto winnings all day too. I think I be most excited for the amazing house i’d buy and a sweet vacation…..sigh. Haha, fingers crossed we’ll both win next time!

Thanks again for the call-out here. So glad I found your blog :) My co-workers and I all went in on lottery tickets. It was so fun to dream about what we’d do with all the money… alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

  11. Sabine says:

    Congratulations on the Award!!
You really deserve it. Your blog is fresh and so much fun!

I had to look twice, because at first I thought “Liebster” was a name … I don’t expect german words in an english blog, you know :) .
But “Liebster Blog” is german and means as much as “Most favorite blog” or “Blog dearest to my heart”.

So, all the best wishes for the future of your blog … and many more followers!! :)
