Can you believe it’s Wednesday already? You know what that means…. W.I.A.W…..
First of all, I just want to say thank you for all the awesome breakfast suggestions last week. I definitely have plenty of new ideas to keep me from getting bored from now on! Can’t wait to try them out!
Here ya have it… my Tuesday (but I’m pretending it’s Wednesday’s) eats. I managed to switch it up a bit, and get some variety! Are you proud?
7:30 a.m. Kombucha Synergy on the way to work.
Not a huge switch, but it’s not my typical Gingerade at least!
8:15 a.m. Tina’s 3 – Ingredient Apple Cinnamon Pancake with PB2 drizzled on top
Now, before I show you what MINE looked like, let me show you what Tina’s looked like…
Looks amazing, right? How ’bout now…
I’m sorry, but is that cat food?
I’ll tell ya what though… it sure didn’t taste like cat food. They were AMAZING.
I actually made them Monday night and stuck them in the fridge overnight to bring to work with me, and they were great cold! I’m not exactly sure where I went wrong…. I think it may have been my lack of patience when it came to flipping the pancakes. Actually, I KNOW it had to do with my lack of patience. Tina, I apologize for butchering your recipe.
Regardless, they were awesome. So simple and so healthy! I loved the added protein from the eggs, and it kept me full all morning long!
11:45 – Salad with roasted veggies and a whole wheat wrap filled with hummus, zucchini, and sprouts.
This delicious lunch was scarfed down before I had to report to lunch duty! Fun.
2:00 Protein Shake with Unsweetened Almond Milk and Blueberries and Cream Protein Powder
Usually I wait until I get home to have my protein shake before the gym, but I’ve been noticing that I need some extra time to finish digesting my snack before my Tuesday workout, so I wanted to have it earlier.
It turned out it didn’t really matter when I had my snack though. I opted out of my workout for the day. I had a really tough day at work, and I feel like I’ve been coming down with something. My throat is so sore and I feel like it could be the start of a fever (please, oh please no…) I decided to put on my sweats and take an unplanned rest day instead!
6:45 p.m. Kale salad with a Boca Burger
Being that I wasn’t feeling well, I decided to cram in as many nutrients as possible. I made a huge kale salad drizzled with olive oil, sesame seeds, and garlic salt. I threw in a chopped up Boca Burger and some leftover roasted brussel sprouts (I promise they are under all that kale)!
My appetite was kind of off, so I didn’t force myself to eat more. I ended my night with a cup of sleepytime tea and called it a night!
Here’s hoping that veggie magic did the trick!
Do you try to eat differently when you feel like you are getting sick?
Any tips/tricks you want to throw my way would be appreciated!

When I feel myself coming down with something I take Zicam (not right now though, I can’t take anything) but I think that rest is the most important thing of all! Take care of yourself, no one likes to do sub plans!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I love it when I try something new and it comes out looking less than stellar- not! But, at least they tasted stellar!
Sub plans is exactly what I’ve been trying to avoid! They take longer to put together then actually teaching the lesson. I’ve never tried Zicam but Ive been getting plenty of rest…. Fingers crossed it helps! Hope you have a great Wednesday too!
I understand completely! I try to eat while teaching and my schedule get a little off some days. BTW you are so right, going to teach sick is so much better then writing sub plans… worse thing ever!
Yes! There is no telling what my day of eating will be like while in the classroom!
When I’m sick, I start pumping in the fruits and veggies even MORE than usual. I feel like that’s all I end up eating!
And I’m a Gingerade fan too, I’ve never had that Synergy one. Cold pancakes are fabulous … but dangerous for me. If there’s leftovers in the fridge, I’ll just grab some one off the plate and eat it as a snack. Not good. Pancakes = kryptonite
The Synergy is SO good! A bit sweeter than the Gingerade…. I had to stop myself from gulping it down all at once!
I tend to eat lighter when I’m feeling under the weather… lots of greens and bland stuff. If you’re stuffy/headachy/congested you’ve GOT to try using Tiger Balm. It costs like $3 and works magic! Rub a tiny bit on the temples and the chest and wow. So soothing. Feel better quick!
Thanks for the suggestion! Do I just get it at a regular pharmacy? I’ve never heard of it!
I try my best to eat more fruits and veggies when I’m sick! And lots and lots of green tea!
I try green tea, but honestly I just can’t get past the taste! It tastes like a wet towel to me haha…. More power to you!
Ugh, that virus is spreading like wildfire, good luck to you!!! All 3 of my kids had it and I’m currently getting over it myself.
Oh no! I hope you and your family are feeling better! I actually think I managed to sleep it off the past few nights (knock on wood), I’m feeling much better. Thanks
We are all on the upswing, but it was bad!!! Glad you are feeling better
