Weekend of fun!

Hi friends!  :)

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday… I have been go-go-going since Friday morning at 5:30 A.M. so I apologize that I’ve been M.I.A.  Friday was a very special someone’s birthday, but we actually haven’t even had a chance to really celebrate it yet (we will be changing that in a few hours though)!

Let me back up and give you a little recap of what we’ve been up to this weekend.  Friday night we had a Alzheimer’s fundraiser gala with my family, and considering that I am as pale as a ghost and would be wearing a sleeveless dress, I figured it would make me feel a little better to get a spray tan on Thursday night.  Apparently you aren’t supposed to shower for 8 hours or so after you get sprayed, so when I woke up Friday morning to go to the gym, I still had the spray “residue” on me.

I threw up my hair, jumped into my gym clothes, and was out the door without really stopping to look at myself in the mirror.  I didn’t even think about my tan until the person at the front desk of my gym did a double take and said, “Whoa… it looks like someone has been spray tanning.”

I then looked in the mirror and I looked insane.  I was brown.  Just then I got a text message from Bobby, “It looks like Snooki slept in our bed.”

Ok so nobody told me that spray tans actually rub off you…. and if you go to the gym before you’ve showered….

Your towel will look like that.

Anywayyyy…. luckily once I showered off, my “tan” calmed down quite a bit.

After a day of work, I ran home, quickly got changed, and Bobby and I were off to the fundraiser!  Thank goodness I no longer resembled a castmate from Jersey Shore….

We were so excited for this gala (I feel so fancy typing that out)!  My family and I were very affected by Alzheimer’s disease when my grandfather got the horrible diagnosis years ago.  He passed away in 2006, and my family has since become very involved in fundraising to help find a cure for the horrendous disease.

The fundraiser was held at Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, which was absolutely beautiful.  The food was amazing and the band was incredible!

Delicious salad to start off…

…and clearly I enjoyed the entrée of steak and sea bass as well…

 Domination.

We spent the night dancing, eating, and hanging out with my family!  We even managed to get in a birthday shot to help wish Bobby a great start to his 29th year (I sat that one out… ;) )

It was such a great night spent with my amazing family, and most importantly, a lot of money was raised to help the Alzheimer’s foundation! :)

Saturday morning came way too fast.  My alarm went off and I jumped out of bed to get ready for one of my best friend’s bridal showers!  :)

The shower was held at a beautiful country club in New York.  It was, by far, one of the most gorgeous showers I’ve ever been to!

We had a blast, and it was so great to spend the day with all my roommates from college!  We will all be getting together in a few weeks for a special Bachelorette trip that is sure to be one of a kind, so it was exciting to chat about all the fun details we are planning! ;)

After a wonderful afternoon, I headed back home to find Bobby lounging on the couch with Romo, so I jumped at the chance to join my guys.  We spent our night doing a whole lot of nothing, and it was just what I needed!

After ELEVEN hours of sleep, I woke up this morning rested and ready to tackle my 9 mile run (yes, I said eleven hours… that is basically unheard of in this little apartment but I guess it was very needed)!

Despite the fact that it was rainy and gloomy throughout my run, I felt good.  Not great, but good.  My calves were cramping up the entire time, and my legs never really loosened up.  I managed to complete the run though with an average pace of 9:42.  Not my best, but I’ll take it! :)

Anyway, now we are just relaxing before we head out to dinner to celebrate Bobby’s birthday (finally!!).  I’m so excited to give him his gift, I’m gonna earn major wife-points for this one…. ;)

Have a great Sunday!

Have you ever been spray tanning?  Did you have the same sort of experience?

Do you like giving gifts to people you love?  What’s the best gift you’ve ever given?

What did YOU do this weekend? :)

My one and only spray tanning experience was an abomination! I stepped into that little box forgetting every step the lady told me to do. Ever seen the episode of Friends where Ross gets a spray tan? Yeah. Google that and it pretty much sums up my experience! ;-)

My grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s, too. It truly is a horrible disease and am hoping a cure will be found soon!
On a happier note, I laughed out loud when you wrote that it looked like Snooki slept in your bed- haha! :)

    • I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather…. It’s a terrible disease and it’s horrible to watch someone you love go through it.
I’m glad you liked my husbands comment though hahaha :)

  3. You look adorable at the gala! It sounds like such a wonderful event too. My grandma passed away from Colin cancer almost 5 years ago and I would really like to get involved with prevention and awareness for that illness. Looks like the bridal shower was gorgeous, do fun!

    • Thank you! I was nervous I was going to look absurdly tan but it turned out alright :)
I’m so sorry to hear that about your grandma… No matter what disease someone you love has, it’s so difficult to watch them suffer.

  4. I haven’t spray tanned, but I’m going to try it out this year for the first time! I’m getting married on September 8th so I’ll probably do a test run this spring to see if it works for me.

I love giving gifts. I’m probably more excited to give gifts than I am to receive them. The best one I’ve given is a wallet I got my boyfriend for Christmas in 2010. It wasn’t just any wallet – it was a money clip & billfold wallet! I’ve only seen this style by one or two brands. He likes the money clip because it is smaller, but those usually don’t have enough slots for his ID and cards. This one is a combo of a regular wallet and a money clip, so it is not as bulky. Ok, I’ve now spent way too much time trying to explain this wallet. He loves it though. I love it when he recommends it to his friends when they complain about how their wallets are too bulky.

    • Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I’d suggest going to a customized spray tan (where you have a person spraying you)…. I hear those are much better than the booth!
I feel ya on giving gifts! It’s always so much fun and it feels great when you hear the person bragging about the great gift you gave them! ;) The wallet sounds great!!!
