Shamrocks and Pizza

Good morning everyone!  :)

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday morning.  I’ve had a fun-filled, jam-packed weekend and I feel like right now is the first time I’ve had to sit down and relax.

Friday night Bobby and I headed out for Happy Hour and a sushi date.  It was exactly what we both needed after a long week of work, and knowing that we had such a fun day planned on Saturday, we wanted to take it easy!

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the gym.  I was hoping that it wouldn’t be raining (despite all the forecasts calling for it) and I could take my training run outdoors.  However, when we woke up, my outdoor run wasn’t in the cards.  :(

I’m not sure if it was because my gym thermostat seemed to be set at 100 million degrees, or I had one too many glasses of wine Friday night, or the treadmill is my enemy… but this run was hard.  I kind of felt like I was dying the entire time.  But… I powered through, and completed my 6 miles in a little over 58 minutes.

I saw a quote yesterday on Carrots N’ Cake that immediately popped into my mind as I looked in the mirror after my run.

“If you still look cute at the end of your workout… you didn’t train hard enough.”

Welp folks, I feel like I successfully trained hard enough.  My face was PURPLE.  No joke.  Bobby told me he thinks I have a disease…

Anyway, while I let my face chill out for a bit I rehydrated with the best tasting drink in the world.

Spot the creeper!

Yum… this drink almost made my horrendous run worth it.

After showering up and having some lunch, Bobby and I were off to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!!  :)

Hoboken is famous for its early St. Patrick’s Day celebration during the first weekend in March, and we aren’t ones to pass up a celebration!  It actually gets pretty crazy, and the streets turn into stumbling grounds.  Everywhere you turn, there is someone dressed in green and falling all over themselves as they attempt to walk down the street.  Very comical indeed!  We try to stay away from the bars as they get intensely crowded and annoying.

We bounced around between a few house parties throughout the day…

It was such a fun day filled with lots of laughs, friends, and of course, drinks.  However, before we knew it, it was around 8:00 and my post run drunk hunger hit with a vengeance.  Bobby and I stumbled walked home and this happened….

We ordered a medium pizza, half with no cheese and extra veggies and the other half with extra cheese and pepperoni (opposites attract).  Yeah, that pizza box was quickly emptied…. I’m a bad new blogger because I couldn’t stop shoveling pizza in my face for a moment to take a picture.  Sigh.

Annnnnyyyywayyyy….. we polished off our dinner and called it a night.  Successful St. Patrick’s Day celebration! :)

This morning I woke up and was craving a stabilizing, healthy breakfast in the worst way.  A green protein smoothie bowl of love was calling my name!

In the mix:

  • scoop chocolate protein powder
  • handful of spinach
  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 Truvia packet
  • 1/4 cup Fiber One (for some crunch)

It may not look appetizing, but it tasted like a bowl of heaven!

I’m off to enjoy my Sunday (and maybe peel the shamrock sticker off my cheek).  Have a great day!

Tell me the *best* part of your weekend!

  1. Your weekend sounds fun!! I’ve never really done a real St. Patrick’s celebration but maybe that needs to change this year :-) And don’t worry – I am a bad new blogger too and always forget to take pictures of food. Especially at night when I just really want dessert and don’t think about anything before eating it!
