Good morning! I’m really so excited to be blogging again, it’s pathetically exciting for me. So I figured I’d share the email that made the final decision for starting my own blog. Read this little gem of an email that I got below….
(Students name whited out.)
Really. Am I supposed to buy this?
So let’s pretend for a second that the student’s mom really did write this to explain why her homework was missing.
1. She “lost” her email? How does that even happen?
2. She needs some (as in… a LOT of) help with her spelling.
3. She has very similar punctuation skills as most of my third graders…. Zilch.
For a nine year old… I’d say, she’s got some guts!
After I stopped laughing at how amazing that email was, I immiediatly fowarded it to all my friends who I knew would get a kick out of it as well. One response was, “There must be a blog you can submit that to.” Well, instead of finding that blog… I decided that I need to create one.
I have too many stories, too much to share, and I needed an outlet. So here it is! This isn’t going to just be a teaching blog though. I know that I’ll figure it out as I go, but I’m seeing this more of a journal of a 20 something year old who happens to be a teacher, newlywed, “healthy” gym goer… and just someone who’s trying to find the balance between it all.
Anyway, reality is about to start up again. Today is officially the last day of my February break. No more waking up late. No more bumming around in my cozies until noon. No more taking my time at the gym.
I feel rested and rejuvenated though, and I’ll admit, I’ve missed my kiddos. I don’t feel quite like myself without 22 little nine year olds chewing my ear off all day!
Yesterday I wanted to take full advantage of it still being my “break,” so Bobby and I had quite a fun filled, productive day. We ran around getting things accomplished (New glasses! Please ignore the Sunday morning I’m-too-lazy-to-look-presentable look).
I also managed to get in my 5 mile training run that I had originally planned for today!
Felt great! After a busy day of running around, we took it easy last night and went out for dinner. Spinach salad with grilled shrimp for me, bacon wrapped meatloaf for him. Adult beverages for both. At least we have something in common…
Ended our Saturday night at home cuddled on the couch catching up on DVR and enjoying our fair share of wine. Low key but much needed Saturday night!
Off to enjoy my Sunday before reality starts up again tomorrow!
